So I’m going to level with you, pink is a great colour. There, I’ve said it. I love Pink – and what is great to see if that slowly more and more guys are starting to embrace this colour palette too! So I’m going to kick things off with a history lesson for you. Originally there was no gender association with pink or blue, in fact in the 1920s American retailers actually declared Pink the boys colour and blue the girls colour… shocker, I know! This changed in the 1940s when suddenly Pink was deemed feminine and blue was deemed masculine – I’m sure it had nothing to do with forcing parents to buys a whole new wardrobe for their kids and thus spend a shed load of money in their shops… surely not?! Anyway, now that we all know that there was time that pink really did make the boys wink, it’s time to welcome its romantic hues into your wardrobe! Here are my three top tips for wearing pink, to make sure you’re more “Pretty In Pink”!
Make Pink The Statement Colour
Firstly think of the colour scheme, pink is a great colour, but it is also fairly bold, so team it up with some nice neutral tones. My personal presence are pink and white in summer, and pink and black in the winter!
Embrace Bold Prints
Secondly don’t shy away from bold pink prints! Everyone’s favourite Directioner Harry Style has often rocked a pink short sleeve number with some cool patterns, so why don’t you too! Adding a fedora hat or black leather jacket will really set this off nicely too!
Stand Out Fabrics
Thirdly think of the material, a classic pink oxford shirt can make any guy look dashing! We know that in modern culture pink obviously has feminine connotations, however for the bold of you, who want to break those borders down, why not embrace a feminine fabric too like silk or sateen – that will really give them something to stare at as you strut down the catwalk of life!
Love this post Jamie. Going to add some pink to my look now for sure!
