Sponsored post with Canali
Ladies and gentlemen I think it is safe to say that the heat of spring summer 2018 is finally upon us! I can’t believe how incredible the heatwave we just had was, and I have just come back from Dubai (if you watch my Instagram stories you’ll know this) and daaaamn it was hot there! All this heat has got me excited to start dressing for the season and when I comes it summer it can only mean one thing, injecting some vibrant colour into your wardrobe. I’ve teamed up with the guys at Canali, the Italian designer, to show how injecting colour into your summer clothing is easy and doesn’t have to be daunting at all.
Firstly let me know you guys a bit about Canali. Founded in 1934 they were a family run business that came to pass at a time when menswear was really starting to come into it own. Fitted suiting and an dawning of clean, sharp and modern aesthetics were all the rage and Canali aimed to cater to these gentlemen. By the 1970s Canali has passed onto the next generations of the family (I mean, super talented family ey – imagine if that was your business!) and had started to branch out of Italy and take their clothing internationally. In the 1990s Canali finally opened up their flagship store right in the heart of Italian fashion – Milan. Now run by the third generation of the families, Canali is a truely international brand with not only tailoring but sport lux and accessories for the modern man too.
Now, back to adding some colour to your aesthetic. When injecting colour you don’t have to go full whack, like I do, and buy a bold red or green suit – I completely understand that that can be a tad too out there for a first time colour wearer. If watching the new series of Queer Eye has taught me anything, it’s that you should ease you way into new fashion statements. Canali’s range of accessories are the perfect way to spice up a simple look, with things like their trainers having splashes of colour against a simple white leather, an easy way to add a dash of red or yellow to a simple summer look. For those who know me, you know how much I love colour blocked trainers and these Canali leather ones are no exception. Team them with a nice dark denim jean and a simple white tee for a spruced up Summer aesthetic.
For those of you who are more daring, like me, you don’t have to stop there. Canali do a range of incredible bold colour suits. As mentioned, their heritage was in suiting for the modern man, so their Bordeaux Silk Cashmere Kei Suit is the epitome of Italian flare, in a range of colours from classic blues to bold reds. If you want, team the suit up with a basic white tee, and a pair of the trainers mentioned before, for a dressed down summer look. This way injecting the bold colours won’t look as intense, as if you were teaming it with ties and pocket squares.
Overall injecting colour to your outfit shouldn’t be daunting task, take simple items and slow edit them to include a colour version, like the trainers, and before you know it you’ll be wearing vibrant colour suits and sipping on Italian wine in style in no time!
